You can see a close up image of this Tefal model just below. This is in the blue colour, and it is also available in a purple colour and a purple/black colour option. The price will vary slightly depending on which colour you decide on.
So when I look at the price and the rating, overall this seems to be good value for money. The brand is certainly well known and a popular choice for kitchen appliances in the UK. Let's have a closer look though at this particular steam iron model.
Who Would Buy the Tefal FV9736?
You can pick up many cheap steam irons in supermarkets up and down the UK. They are cheap and cheerful, but they do come with many problems. The steam may be poor, water may splash out and they seldom last that long.
This iron is best suited for someone with a lot of ironing to do, and wants something that will last. Spending close to £100, on a good branded iron like this, is probably worthwhile. Personally I would recommend a steam generating iron, if you have the room for one of those.
For those who prefer the smaller and lighter normal steam iron, then this one is a good choice. It is powerful, generates a lot of steam, is easy to clean and has a removable scale collector.

Improved & Enhanced Safety Features
There is always a risk of forgetting about your iron and leaving it on. This model has an auto-cut off feature, to cut the power to the iron, if it is forgotten about. That is always a useful feature to have on any iron.
This is an important and I think very useful feature to have on your iron. Households can get very busy, and it is easy to get distracted. I am sure that this has happened to many people over the years.
The sole plate on this iron is very smooth and that allows it to easily and quickly glide over clothes.
On normal use there is 55g/min of variable steam applied to the iron. This is ideal for generalironing purposes. Every now and then you may need to deal with a stubborn crease or wrinkle.
That is when you can use the 230g/min shot of steam. This steam trigger will then deal with stubborn creases in the tougher materials such as jeans.
The sole plate also has a precision tip for a perfect finish around buttons and collars. If all that were not enough, this can also be used for vertical steam.
That is very handy for hanging garments such as curtains. To complete the features, there is also an anti-drip system for easy maintenance and long-lasting performance.
The tank holds 0.35 litres of water and the electric cord is 3 metres (10 feet) long.
