Best Trouser Press UK Reviews

By  Carol

Thanks for taking your time to read our reviews on the best trouser presses that are currently available on the UK market. You will mainly find these in hotels, guest houses and some of the higher end Bed & Breakfasts.

They can be a very useful facility to allow for the quick ironing of trousers. They can quickly remove creases and are predominantly used by many business mean and women throughout the UK. Some of these also have jacket hangers and the heat from the press can also remove wrinkles and help set the cut and look of the jacket.

The main choice seems to be almost exclusively the Corby of Windsor brand. There are some slight differences in features, but the main difference in the various model numbers is the actual finish. These include mahogany, walnut and more contemporary looks such as chrome.

Corby of Windsor are an established brand since 1930 and remain the most popular choice by far. Their trouser presses come with a 3-year guarantee.

They also make other hotel products such as trays, kettles, safes, mini-bars etc.

Trouser Press FAQ

We have included below answers to the most frequently asked questions about trouser presses. We have provided the answers.

Is a Trouser Press Worth the Money?

Trouser presses are handy for home use. They are certainly not the ultimate solution, but they help with business suits that have to be worn every day. As many of you will know, over the period of a day, trousers just get wrinkled, and especially around the knees. Popping them into a trouser press on a 15 minute setting will make a big difference.

They are not that good at wrinkles in and around the crotch area, and for that type of wrinkle, a portable garment steamer is probably a much better option.

For hotel, guest house and B&B owners, the trouser press is a useful additional feature. It is all about having items in a room that help the customer. Some customers will make good use of these, and others may never even look at them. However, they do help sell the room for some customers.

Can you put jeans in a trouser press?

Yes you can put a pair of jeans into a trouser press and they do a remarkably good job. Jeans are however made of a much thicker fabric than your normal suit trousers or casual trousers. To get rid of wrinkles in any jean type material will need a longer setting. You will get away with a 30 minute setting, but ideally a 45 minute setting is much better.

How do you use a trouser press?

Each brand of trouser press will have slightly different instructions and these are usually written on the top of the press. Make sure to read those carefully. The better presses will have a thermostat for temperature and also the choice of a 15, 30 or 45 minute timer.

The Corby press, which is the most used in the UK have pretty simple instructions as shown just below.

  1. Open up the press by lifting up the lever arms and then place your trousers feet first into the press
  2. Take a little bit of time to smooth them out, and make sure the creases are carefully lined up
  3. Hold on to the top of the trousers and close the press by pushing down on the lever
  4. You can then select the timer - we would recommend 15 minutes for light casual trousers and either the 30 or 45 minute timer for heavier materials such as jeans.
